Summer Stuff – tshirts, summer camp, and private lessons

2010 t-shirts are here!  So it’s officially time for summer uniforms – tshirts + belt + pants/shorts.  Also pls remember to pack the kids a water bottle for class.  I keep the AC at 75 but since they are outside running around before and after class I like to stop for water breaks.

Also, since summer is fast approaching I thought I’d post my “summer options” for classes.  I offer different ways to keep kids active while breaking from routines in July/August.  For my serious karate kids it is important to stay active.  Just like academics…they need to keep their hands in it to continue improving.  A long break causes the kids to regress/forget all the stuff they worked so hard to learn.  So here are some things to consider.

-          Stay active but don’t sweat missing class.  Attendance is never 100% during July & August.  Swapping your class night and/or doubling up classes in 1 week are no problem to fit summer fun.  The best option is to continue to attend group classes when you can even if you miss some.

-          Take a monthly private lesson in lieu of your weekly group  classes.  Just email me and we will coordinate a good time.  During the summer I can offer private classes in the mornings or afternoons.  I focus exclusively on kata and solo karate techniques that the kids need to retain for their tests.  No price change…your monthly membership covers the private lesson.

-          Attend my summer karate camp on Friday 7/16 from 9am to 12 noon in lieu of your July or August group classes.  This camp is subject to attendance… 10 kids min. and 20 kids max.  Kata (empty hand and weapons) + group martial arts games + tye dyed tshirts + board breaking.

Any of the above summer plans will help keep your child progressing while changing things up.  And… staying active holds your spot in class which inevitably fill up in the fall.   Have a great, safe summer.  Coach Jeff
